Saturday School 7th November
Saturday School for all the children will start at 8:45am and end at 12:00pm. There will be no PE lessons and so the children do not need their PE clothing.
Halloween/Fall Festival
Halloween night was filled with goblins, pirates, princesses, and much creativity. It was a fun night for all the children, which started with a Halloween party in the clubhouse followed by trick or treating around Dostyk Village.
Many thanks to Debra Laidlaw and Nancy Sizer for once again organizing the activity. Debra was not able to be in attendance at the party, but was willing to organize the event before she left while Nancy organized the day of the event to see that everything was followed through - great teamwork.
I know Debra and Nancy would both agree that Halloween would not have been so successful without the help of many volunteers. Special thanks to:
DECORATING: Sunghee Honermeier, Marlly Foltz and Shirley Peake. Thank you, Tomi Belgard for your generous offer to use your decorations and supplies. Thank you to the liaison desk and ESS for being readily available. Your help in providing ladders, moving tables and chairs, and hanging banners was much appreciated.
BOOK HOP: Lori Ruffcorn and Lisa Craig. It always seemed active and busy in there.
TRIAGE: Sally Plomley and Patty Tankersley. There were some scary looking wounds.
FACE PAINTING: Nicole Johnson, Sunghee Honermeier, Naila Sait, and Peggy Bell. There was quite a variety of painting, tattoos, and hairstyles.
FOOD AND DRINK TABLES: Amy Luke, Risa Deitner, and Fatima Wilson. What a great spread of delicious treats. These tables would not have been possible without the help of all the families in the school and Dostyk community who participated in bringing something to share.
TEAR DOWN: Kiet Tran and Rick Laverack. Both of you took down the decorations and packed them away in such a short time.
Once the party was over the children went on to trick or treat and there was a lot of excitement in the Village as they moved from house to house. A huge THANK YOU to all who hung their pumpkin signs, turned their porch light on and distributed generous amounts of candy. To the adults who dressed up in Halloween attire, you put a smile on everyone’s face.
Halloween night could not have been such a success without the support of the community, so thank you all for participating.

Helping each other keep the children healthy in school
The school will continue to try and make sure the children are aware of appropriate behaviors when they cough or sneeze and the importance of washing their hands. TCO has confirmed that as per school policy if a child develops a fever they should remain out of school for 24 hours after their fever has ended.
Brown Bag Lunch
Tomorrow Brown Bag lunch will be in the areas immediately outside the main club house room. The main room is being decorated.
