Student Council
Movie night last Friday was a great success as was the whole of the week which allowed Student Council to raise enough money to buy more mosquito nets than they originally imagined. In January the Student Council will give their full report.
January 2010: International Day
Teachers have been planning a variety of activities for International Day which will take place in January 2010. One activity that is always popular is the sampling of food that represents different regions of the world or specific countries. We were hoping that while families are in their home country/region or on holiday they may be able to bring back something representative of that location to share at International Day. For families remaining in Kazakhstan something local is still “international”. Alternatively it might be possible for families to bring back ingredients of a local food to make that “dish”/snack/finger food once they are back in Atyrau.
We hope it may be possible to create a new cookbook based on the foods presented at the international lunch.
Santa Photos
Following the carol singing Nita Cheramie took some lovely photos of the younger children on Santa’s knee. In January we will send out the framed photos via e-mail to families. We will use the e-mail addresses we have on record.
Last Day of School
This morning the children will gather together in the lobby to read for 2010 seconds (33.5 minutes). At 3.00pm this afternoon the children will open the time capsule we created last December. In the time capsule are the children’s predictions for 2009. We will see which predictions have come true. We will also put predictions for 2010 into a new time capsule.
The first day of school for the children after the holiday is Monday 11th January. We hope to see everyone return to school healthy and well.
