Tuesday 10th November 8:15am Social Club.
Minutes
- Fall Festival/Halloween
Charles thanked Debra & Nancy for organizing the Fall Festival. The scale of the activities seemed to work really well. Next year Charles will remind the Middle School students to wait until the parents have had time to get back home before going out to Trick & Treat. This year we had a few “escapees” seeking early treats.
- Parent Teacher Conferences & Report Cards
Student Report cards will be sent to parents on Thursday 19th November. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held during the week of November 23rd to 27th. If families have specific days or times they know they cannot meet with teachers please let the teachers know as soon as possible so that we can minimize the number of changes that may be needed to the conference schedule.
- Middle School Dance Friday 13th November: Update
The QSI & DAIS student planning committee met last week and everything seems to be coming together nicely for the Middle School dance on Friday 13th November. The children have established a good rapport and are working well together.
The DAIS Student Council has also been planning DAIS school events for the remainder of the year. These activities include find raising events so they can buy mosquito nets for families in Africa. They have planned several dress-up days and they will also hold the annual second hand sale in April. More details of Student Council activities in the coming weeks.
- Accreditation For Growth (AFG): Parent volunteer on Writing Committee.
Charles thanked parents who had expressed an interest in working with teachers on the Writing Committee. Names had been placed in a hat and Rick Laverack pulled out Sally Plomley’s name.
- Carol Singing Friday 4th December: Draft plan
- DAIS Carol Singing.
Two locations have been chosen for DAIS carol singing this year. The first stop will be on the village field. The second stop will be outside townhouse No. 1. Caroling will start at 6.00pm on the field.
- Santa: Friday 4th December
Following carol singing the children will gather in the Social Club for treats and to meet Santa. Details of this event will be circulated separately rather than in an open communication so that the children do not know all the specifics of the evening. Santa has promised he will be there.
One or two parents have agreed to help support this activity but we need a volunteer(s) to lead the process. Debra Laidlaw who led the activity this year is able to provide support. Sally Plomley will coordinate with the parents of the preschool children who live on the Village. Most of the work involves coordinating with ESS for the use of the rooms and decorations and organizing the food and drink which is contributed by parents. Please let Charles know if you would be able to lead this activity.
- School Concert Scenery
Parents who have the time to help develop a simple winter scene as a backdrop for part of the school concert are asked to contact Charles.
- AOB
- Kazakh Music Students
On Friday November 20th at 2.00pm some of the local university students of Ms. Nurgul, our dombra teacher, will be performing for us. They will play a variety of traditional Kazkah instruments and the performance will last approximately thirty minutes. Please join us if you can in the school lobby.
